HISTORY

In 1999, Dale and Tami Ward had a vision to plant a church on the east side of Orlando. A handful of people began meeting in the Wards’ living room in December 1999 and their first service was February 6, 2000 in Lawton Chiles Elementary School. A year later, Avalon Church moved to the Blanchard Park YMCA,

In 2003, Dale Brooks was hired as the new pastor and the church soon began meeting at Timber Creek High School.

In 2008, after working with Beat Kahli, the developer of Avalon Park, Avalon Church held its first service in its new building on Sunday, September 28, and quickly grew to two services.

In 2018, Pastor Don Dodge was hired as Avalon Church’s third pastor. He and his family moved from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Today, in this new season, God has given the church a passion to help those in need, be a blessing to the world around us, and a light to the Avalon Park community. This is especially seen in our “Item of the Month” where we raise money and volunteers to help organizations and families outside the church. It also includes the three Community Services held every year in Avalon Town Park.
