Our Mission
Through all we do, we seek to:
- Exalt the Savior
- Encourage, Equip and Empower the Saints
- Evangelize the Lost
- Impact our Community
- Before Christ Returns
Objectives
As men, God has given us the responsibility to lead our families, provide
for our families, mentor our children, love-respect-honor our wives, but
most importantly, we are called to serve our families as Christ served
the Church.
Integrity
There are seven "promises" a man of integrity is called to
keep:
- Honor Jesus Christ
- Pursue vital relationships with other men
- Practice personal integrity
- Build strong marriages and families
- Support our Pastor and Church
- Demonstrate Biblical unity
- Influence our community
Remembering that anyone can make a promise, it takes a man of integrity
to keep them. One of our goals at Avalon is to mentor, equip and lead
men to a deeper understanding of their commitments, ultimately building
stronger husbands and fathers, not just bossy old grumps!
Among the promises made by God, the following promise is our assurance
that He is by us and has prepared us to stand up against temptation: No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful;
he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you
are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under
it. I
Corinthians 10:13
Accountability
Christ also charged men to be accountable for the spiritual welfare
of our families. With such a great responsibility, how can a man stay
on track? Quite simply, standing alone a man can't! We believe it is
important for men to be accountable for and to one another. We all need
the ability to confide, confess, consult and seek counsel with other
men about matters that are often very difficult to talk about.
We are here to serve you and as your servants, our desire is to assist
men in this difficult task. We have a lot going on with our men's ministry,
we encourage men to be a part of an accountability team.
Key aspects of an accountability team:
- Meet regularly and have an open and consistent line of communication.
Problems don't keep a regular 9 to 5 schedule
- Small in number, usually no more than 6 or 7.
- Confidential. What is said in the group, stays in the group - No
exceptions.
- Honest and frank. Nothing is off limits.
