Finding our financial way can be difficult, to say the least. So we appropriately turn to God’s Word for direction. However, the Bible contains 2,350 verses dealing with money and possessions; and fifteen percent of everything Jesus said had to do with it. How do we sort through all of this information and uncover the practical applications?

New from Compass-Finances God’s Way, founded by Howard Dayton, comes a 9-week small group study called Navigating Your Finances God’s Way. Howard Dayton is also the original founder of Crown Financial Ministries so this new course includes all the great principles of Crown but has been updated and improved to include many more practical applications and exercises. 

Tom Denton will be facilitating a class beginning in September. The study is nine weeks long and the materials cost $30/person or $45/couple. Tom will be in the church lobby this Sunday, August 21 and next Sunday, August 28 to provide details and register folks for this class. 

Pastor Dale and I have personally looked at the new materials and are both very excited about the format and the inclusion of many more “right now” practical applications. Complete information about the leadership and core values of Compass can be found at http://www.compass1.org/about/ 

As a church we are working towards more emphasis on strong families that are equipped and nurtured to pass on the legacy of faith and all biblical truth, knowledge and wisdom from generation to generation. This small group study is an important element of building strong families. Consider taking a few minutes Sunday to speak with Tom.

We just received a text message a few minutes ago from Brock Young.  He said everyone is well and they will be heading down the mountain (going down is sometimes more scary than going up!) to Jacmel tomorrow (Saturday) around 10:00am to arrive by noon for sightseeing and tourist attractions.  Then they'll rest in a hotel overnight before they depart for Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday.   

Thanks for all of your continued prayers for their safety and God's provision that His will is accomplished both within each team member and within the La Montagne community.  We are excited for a time of sharing from the team when they return!
