Last Sunday our guest, Pastor Charlie Hubbard, shared a little about what Jesus called the “greatest commandment,” found in Deuteronomy 6:5:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Hmm… heart, mind, strength. It’s that pretty much all of me?
Sure is. And this Sunday, Pastor David Williams will expand on that reality in a message entitled, “All In!” – Living Fully Surrendered to God.
David was one of the favorite keynote speakers at our Men’s Retreat where he inspired and challenged our men. David has been in full-time ministry since 1999. He spent 10 years on staff with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ). During the majority of his time on staff, he served as a campus minister in Northeast Ohio and as a traveling speaker. He also served one season as a chaplain for the Cincinnati Bengals organization.
In preparation for our time of study this Sunday, let me encourage you to read the following verses:
Romans 12:1-2 – another set of “whole person” verses
- Give God your body – a once-for-all commitment of my physical being to honor Him
- Give God your mind – transformed, not conformed; where the mind goes, the body usually follows
- Give God your will – Jesus said, “Not my will, but Yours”; He obviously knew the key to a holy life
- All the other relationships Paul discusses in Romans 12 and 13 rise or fall on how much of “you” is dedicated to “Him
Romans 6:13,16 & 19 – “body” verses
Ephesians 4:23 & 1 Peter 1:13 – “mind” verses
Matthew 6:10 & 26:39 – “will” verses
Let me share a quick praise report. The special offerings during Vacation Bible School for Word on the Street ministry to the homeless collected came to a total of $1154!
Please be praying for the upcoming Youth Camp. Our students will be leaving early Monday morning and we want every moment of the week to be a safe and spiritually significant time.
Join me Sunday for an “all in!” time of worship!
