Da’ branch got no fruit! | Avalon Church

Dear church family,

What if I told you that I had a fruit tree in my yard that produced the biggest, juiciest, most delicious fruit ever – and I wanted to share that fruit with you?  So, I’m going to cut off several branches from the trunk of the tree and bring them into the auditorium this Sunday.  By spring they’ll start blossoming and then a couple of months later everyone will have plenty of fruit to share and enjoy.

“That’s crazy,” you’d say. “The branches have to be connected to the trunk, otherwise, there’s no way any fruit will be produced.”

And that’s exactly what Jesus is trying to teach us! We might know how to behave and have the perfect strategic plan, but if we’re cut off from Jesus, if we’re distanced from Him, there won’t be any fruit.

You’re as close to Jesus as you choose to be!

If you choose to abide in Him, live with Him, continue with Him, wrap Him around yourself and stay close to Him, you will inevitably bring forth much fruit.

Fruit is produced by abiding. Not struggling, not striving, but abiding!
(Ever see a fruit tree struggle to bear fruit?)

For this Sunday please reread John 15. Circle “abide” every time you see it. Think of abiding as remaining, continuing, residing or living with, persevering and/or enduring.  Ask yourself how that might impact your personal, intimate relationship with Jesus.

I’ve heard wonderful reports about life group meetings this week! I’ll continue to pray that Jesus reveals Himself and His truth to each and every one of you.

I’m so very excited about what Jesus is doing. I love you church!
