Serve at Avalon

Welcome Ministry

This is an excellent place to get started in the world of service. Opportunities include assisting people in finding their way around Avalon Church, making people feel at home and welcomed as they arrive, or showing hospitality by serving coffee and drinks. Everything you will do will communicate “we are happy you are here.” Time Requirement: About 4 hours per month on a Sunday morning.

Visitors Ministry

Ministry members are available at the Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings to encourage first-time visitors to register. They engage guests in conversation to make them feel welcome, and they give a gift to each person/family who registers at the desk or completes and turns in the bulletin tear-off. Time Requirement: About 40 minutes total, including before and after either service, no more than one Sunday a month.

Serving as an usher is another great way to help Sundays be a safe and enjoyable experience for our church. Responsibilities include helping people find a seat in the worship center, assisting with the collection of the offering and directing people to evacuation routes in case of an emergency. The Usher ministry team offers a place of service for everyone, from trained medical personnel to people who simply like to assist others. Time Requirement: 3 to 4 hours per month on a Sunday morning

The local church is not a building; that’s just where we meet. The church is made up of people worshiping and working together, living out their relationship with Jesus. This means there’s a place within Avalon Church for everyone to express the gifts and abilities the Lord has given them.

Children's Ministry | Assistants

The world of children needs to be safe, loving and conducive to learning. Our Children’s Ministry Assistants provide the extra hands and warm smiles that show the love of Jesus to our youngsters, from infants to 5th graders. Requires permission to conduct a background check. Time Requirement: 2 hours per Sunday (a single service), once per month

Children's Ministry | Registration & Security

The safety and wellbeing of our children is a top priority.  We also want to be a welcoming smile that greets you when you arrive.  This person is the first one a family will see upon entering our Children’s Ministry area.  They are available to help with check-in and directing you to the correct class, making sure new families get registered and provide a secure environment during our services. Time requirement: 2 hours per Sunday (a single service), once per month.

Worship Ministry | Tech

Our Sunday morning worship times are enhanced by the amazing equipment we have installed in the worship center. However, amazing (and expensive) equipment takes amazing people to operate it all properly. You could be one of these people. Time Requirement: 3 to 4 hours per month on a Sunday morning.

Worship Ministry | Chair Setup

Our worship center is a multi-use room and changes configuration numerous times throughout the week. Usually the biggest setup is the one that occurs on Thursday (occasionally Friday or Saturday) evenings in preparation for Sunday services. This team is a fun-loving bunch who somehow make hefting chairs an enjoyable time. Time Requirement: 1 to 2 hours on Thursday evenings beginning around 6:30pm (sometimes Friday or Saturday evenings)
